Relationships among Career Commitment,Proactive Personality,Career goal Certainty and Family Support In Chinese Undergraduate StudentsChinese Full Text

Abstract: Objective To examine the characteristics of career commitment with a sample of Chinese undergraduate students,and to test the relationship among career commitment,proactive personality,career goal certainty and family support. Methods 361 undergraduate students were surveyed; ANONVA,correlation analysis and regression analysis were applied in data analysis. Results 139. 3% of first- year college students had commitment to a certain career; 2 there was no significant difference between genders,on family and socioeconomic background; there was no significant difference between only- child students and non- only- child ones; 3 cadre students had a higher level of commitment than non- cadre ones,while there was a significant correlation between academic performance and calling; 4 students who were close to both parents were more likely to have a higher level of commitment,and family support was correlated with commitment; 5 proactive personality and its dimensions all had positive effects,and commitment partially mediated the relationship between proactive personality and career goal certainty; and o family support did not moderate the relationship between commitment and career goal certainty. Conclusion 1 Chinese undergraduate students have career commitment; 2 Proactive personality influences commitment of undergraduate students; 3 proactive personality and commitment have positive effects on career goal certainty.
