Abstract: By analyzing the developing history and situations of tea picking machine both at home and abroad, this paper obtains the conclusion that such countries like Japan, England, France, Australia and Argentina have realized the mechanization of tea plucking, but China has not. The article also points out that the reasons why China has a poor level of tea picking mechanization are that China, with a complex terrain, started using mechanical tea plucking method later than other countries and agricultural applications of high technologies falls behind industry. Existing problems analyzed meanwhile are lacking uniformed cultivating pattern of tea, inviting more than innovating of key technique of plucking, weak scientific research ability and immature protecting ways for intellectual property. Finally, some advices and measures to improve domestic tea picking mechanization are given.
