Abstract: Objective: To investigate whether Baicalein attenuates doxorubicin( DOX)-induced inflammation and cytotoxicity in rat cardiomyocytes by modulating nuclear factor κB( NF-κB) and c-jun N terminal kinase( JNK) pathway. Methods: The expression of NF-κB p65 and JNK was measured by western blotting. Results: Treatment of cardiomyocytes with DOX significantly upregulated the expression level of phosphorylated NF-κB p65( p-p65) and JNK,as well as a decrease in cell viability. Co-treatment with Baicalein depressed the up-regulation of p-p65 and JNK expression induced by DOX. Conclusion: Baicalein may protect cardiomyocytes against DOX-induced inflammatory response and cytotoxicity by inhibiting NF-κB and JNK pathway.
