Abstract: In order to improve the operation stability of a spindle system with high speeds,it is significant to investigate its dynamic performance with centrifugal force and gyroscopic moment effects. An integrated shaft-bearing system’s dynamic model considering both centrifugal force and gyroscopic moment effects was presented based on coupled stiffness matrices of rolling bearings obtained by extending Harris’ nonlinear rolling bearing analysis model. Impact modal tests were conducted to verify the correctness of this dynamic model. The effects of centrifugal force and gyroscopic moment of the shaft and operational stiffness of rolling bearings on the dynamic performance of the shaft-bearing system with a high speed were analyzed. It was shown that when the bearing is in the case of extreme light( EL) preload, the high-speed effects of the shaft have a greater influence on the dynamic performance of the shaft-bearing system than the operational stiffness of rolling bearings does; the gyroscopic moment effect of the shaft is the most remarkable influence factor.
