Kinetics of degradation of cefmenoxime hydrochloride for injection in infusion solutionsChinese Full Text

Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate the kinetic characteristics of degradation of cefmenoxime hydrochloride for injection in sodium chloride injection and5%glucose injection.METHODS A HPLC method was established to measure the kinetic parameters of degradation of cefmenoxime in infusion solutions with various pH values,temperatures and ionic strengths.RESULTS It was found that the kinetics of degradation of cefmenoxime from two manufacturers corresponded with the firstorder kinetics,and the pHm for cefmenoxime was about 6.5.The degradation rate increased with temperature and ionic strength.CONCLUSION Degradation rate of cefmenoxime is related with pH,temperature and ionic strength,especially pH value and temperature.
