Oxaliplatin combined with capecitabine treatment and pharmaceutical care for colorectal cancer patientsChinese Full Text

Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate the adverse reactions and clinical pharmaceutical care points in colorectal cancer patients during peri-chemotherapy and summarize the experience in pharmaceutical care.METHODS Through a retrospective analysis of clinical data,79 cases of colorectal cancer patients were admitted in our department from Jan.2011to Dec.2012,and divided into pharmaceutical intervention group and control group.Oxaliplatin combined with capecitabine chemotherapy were prescribed in all patients.The patients of pharmaceutical intervention group were given with appropriate medication guide and medication monitoring.RESULTS The effective rate in pharmaceutical intervention group was higher than that in control group（P＞0.05）.Adverse reactions of two groups mainly included nausea,vomiting,phlebitis,nerve toxicity,arrest of bone marrow,diarrhea,hand-foot syndrome and heart toxicity,mainly at gradesⅠⅡ.The nausea,vomiting,phlebitis,nerve toxicity at gradeⅠandⅡin pharmaceutical intervention group were significantly lower than those in control group.The nausea and vomiting at gradeⅢin pharmaceutical intervention group were significantly lower than those in control group too.CONCLUSION Effective pharmaceutical care and intervention during chemotherapy treatment with oxaliplatin combined with capecitabine could improve the efficiency,prevent or mitigate adverse events,improve patient medication compliance,improve patient quality of life and reduce the cost of drug treatment.
