Review and analysis of the use of meropenem in pediatric patientsChinese Full Text

Abstract: OBJECTIVE To understand the use of meropenem,which is a kind of special class antibacterial agents,in Xiamen Maternity and Child Care Hospital and promote the clinical rational use of meropenem.METHODS The medical records during 2012 annual that pediatric patients who had ever used meropenem were summarized.Randomly selected 101 files to review,and established the evaluation criterions for drug indications,usage,dosage,precautions,etc.RESULTS The use of meropenem was basically reasonable in indications,interactions,etc.While mainly irrational use was reflected in medication frequency,no periodic monitoring of liver and kidney function,etc.CONCLUSION In order to promote the rational use of such drugs like meropenem,clinical pharmacists should strengthen review and pharmaceutical care.
