Abstract: In order to study the law of space-time evolution of overburden rock fracture by mining influence, the laboratory similar simulation experiment was taken to research the crack evolution, which adopt the method of mathematical statistics on the fissure distribution in qualitative analysis and the theory of fractal to study the space-time evolution of fracture in quantitative description. The results show that the mining influence overburden fracture field is divided into four areas, namely abscission low angle fracture zone, central gob roof caving and angle areas of fissure zone, high angle area of crack extension, and transition zone of medium high angle. The important stages for variation tendency and variations of the mining influence overburden fracture were described rationally by reference fractal theory. Medium and high angle transition zone was the main area of gas drainage engineering measures, which was obtained by analyzing expand degree of crack. The analysis can provide certain theory and the practice foundation for mining overburden rock control and goaf gas extraction
