Abstract: Objective:To study the effects of intragastric administration of formaldehyde on bone marrow cell micronucleus rate in mice. Methods:Thirty ICR mice(half were male and half were female mice)were randomly divided into 4groups,one sham group, positive control group, low dose experiment group and high dose two experiment group with 10mice in each group. The mice were poisoned through intragastric administration once a day for 5consecutive days. After exposure, the mice were killed and bone marrow smears were made, then cells of bone marrow micronucleus were observed and counted under a microscope. Results:The micronucleus rate in high dose group, low dose group, sham group were(8.41±2.45)‰,(1.82±1.30)‰and(0.50±0.85)‰,respectively,the micronucleus rate in high dose group were statistically significant higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Intragastric administration of formaldehyde to mice can increase the bone marrow micronucleus rate.
