Abstract: Objective:To explore the expression of SphK1 and its clinical significance in gastric cancer tissues. Methods:A total of 58 samples of surgically resected gastric cancer and matched normal tumor-adjacent tissues were subjected to immunohistochemistry for SphK1 protein detection.Correlation between SphK1 protein expression and different clinicopathological features in gastric cancer was analyzed. Results:Positive expression rate of SphK1 protein was 79.3%(46/58)in gastric cancer tissues and was 24.1%(14/58)in matched normal-adjacent tissues, the difference was significantly(χ2=35.352,P=0.000).The expression of SphK1 protein was significantly correlated with depth of infiltration(χ2=4.312;P=0.038),occurrence of lymph node metastasis(χ2=7.459;P=0.006)and TNM tumor stage(χ2=4.156;P=0.041).Conclusion:The expression of SphK1 is elevated and its high-expression is associated with poor clinicopathological parameters in gastric cancer tissues, suggesting SphK1 may promote tumour progression in gastric cancer.
